Well-known Horse-owner Killed
M0T0R-CAR OVERTURNS

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Mr Samuel Gordon Holaes, a married man, aged 51, was kiffed yesterday afternoon when his car overturned on the Eakaia-Methvcn road at Mitcham. Mr Holaes, who was alone in the car, lett his home near Methven for Lyttelton at 1.30 p.m. Shortly before^ 3 p.m. a passing motor-eyclist found him dead behind the wheel of the car, whicb was r ealing on its hood on top of a gorse fence. Marks on the road mdicated that the car had skidded badly before it turned over. Mr Holaes was president of the Methven Trotting Culb, and as an owner and breeder or racehorses met with considerable success.
