Letters to the Editor
GEO.
EBBETT,
Hastings Memorial , Hospital. Sir, — 1 was unable to attend the function at the Hospital on Thursday last so that 1 would be glad if you would allpw nie publicly through yotfr paper to thank Mr Morse for his kindly reference to the 1 work and efforts of those responsible for the estabiishment of any ' public hospital in Hastings. It. was a large committee and I couldn't name them all. In any case many have passed on, but the bulk of the work and worry was borne by fln executive committee. For five years. in the teeth of strenuous and determined opposition, they laboured constantly and persistently. Very early they determined • they could aceomplishi most bystealtk and with no publicity. It required time, but hy this policy they achieved their object witliout quarrelling with anybody. Mr Coleburne lost his life in the earthquake. Mr Hart and Mr Perrin. are confihed to tlieir homes by sickness. We all realise that these things must be forgotten in time, but I am sure they .would associate themselves with me in this expression of thanks and a]iprcciation to Mr Morse for rememhering to men tion their serviees, humhle and all as they may kaye been, on th© occasion mentioned. Thanking you, Yours, etc..
