The New Zealand cricketers accomplished; a fine performance dismissing the strong English side so cheaply in their second innings on. a slightly helpful wicket. Hammond and Edrich scored quickly for half aii hour. New Zealand then captured five wickets for only 12 runs. 4 Donnelly, after finding his length, spun the ball back from leg. He bagged two valuable -wickets, one being well caughit at first slip. Qowie was coming with great pace off tlie pitch. For about eight overs he seemed to have all the batsmen bamboozled. When Roberts and Duiining were reintroduced they each took a quick wicket. Seven wickets ^ were captured for * 50 runs. England declared at lunch, and New Zealand were left two hours and aquarter to make 219 runs. . The Englishmen bowled accurately and fielded keenly, and the task proved beyond the batsmen. Kerr completed iiis 1000 runs in first-class matches. Wallace gave an excellent display of weil-played and well-placed strokes. The wicket was dusty on the surface, and the ball was popping occasionally, the batsmen liaving to watch it carefully. Tindill played his last game of the tour.
