Eskdale Meeting The monthly meeting of the Eskdale Women 's Institute Was held on Thursday. One visitor from Christchurch was welcomed. Before commencing the meeting members exprcssed their sym-. pathy by standing in silnce to the relatxves of the late Mra Swain, a Women 's Institute member. The thought for the mouth was, "It may sometimes be wise.to be foolish, but it is always foolish to pretend -to be wise." Roll call: Things I most -enjoy at Institute meetings. The monthly competition was for the j best sponge cake filled with cream. j This was won by Mrs Kyle, with Mrs j .Saunders second and Miss Blair third. { The best bloom was also won by Mrs j friaunders. ' * ' ' Resolutioxxs for the Federation meeting- at Greenmeadows on October 5 were, discussed and delegates appointed to attend were Mrs King and Mrs Kyle. ■ It was decjded to .send a small dona- I tion . to the lleper funds again.thxs year, A saies tabe is tq' be held "at the October meeting for extra Women 's Tnfetitixte expense's. ' • ' • A fresh sfupply of goods from the Blind Institute is to be ordered shortly. • A most interesting chat on home gursing. was ably givejx by : Mrs Shaw, matron, France House,. and wa,s much appreciated by all. . Congratulations were extendea to Mrs Williahxs, president, on xeceiving-a ispecial bouquet at the recent drama 1 festival at Taradale. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs and Miss Kyle. The compietition, length of string in ball, was won by Mrs King with Mrs Reneh second.
