Three Occupants _ Sustain Serious Injuries BELIEVED DRIVER DOZED

ASHBURTON, This Day. Leaving the road because it is believed the driver dozed, a car smashed into a pole three miles south of Ashburton at 8 o 'clock this morning and was completely wrecked. The three

occupants^ all residents of Invercargill, who were on their way to the Test match, were sent to hospital with serious injuries. Their names are:-— MR WILLIAM PATRICK, aged '49, of 29 Dee street, injuries to the headj condition satisfactory. MR NEIL McGOWAN, aged 29, of 60 Earnslaw street, head injuries; condition satisfactory. GLADYS MARSHALL, aged 23, of 82 Burke street, fracture of the right leg and suffering from severe shoclc; condition serious. The party left Invercargill at. 5 o 'clock last night and travelled all night, Mr Patrick driving. Mr McGowan and Miss Marshall were unconscious when taken to hospital.
