DAIRYING SEASON

Our Own Correspondent).

Effect of Rain in Central H.B.

(From

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Following upou the reopening of tlio Waipukurau factoiy of the Heretaunga Dairy Co. on the 15th ult., the collection of crcam was only undertaken twice wi^ekly^ but for .the past week the lorries have made tri-weekly calls. There are indications that with the advent of favourable weather the supply will steadily inerease and justify the continuance of local manufacturing. Spring growth was very slow-moving prior to the soaking downfall of the fortnight just ended. With the discrepancy between butterfat and wool prices so marlced a feature of primary industrial values of recent years, it is not surprising to find that sheep-farm-ing is being favoured by many erst-' wliilo dairy producers.
