Hearing oi Appeals NEW NAMES FOR H.B. AREAS?

WELLINGTON, Tbis Day. Tbe Electaral Commission, which meets at statutory periods to readjust electoral boundaries in conformity witb changed population factors, is again sitting in Wellington. Tbis time tlxe commission, the preliminary recommendations of which were made public on July 23 by the Minister in charge of the Electoral Department, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, is sitting to liear appeals. After its recommendations were revealod, objectors were allowed until August 31 to lodge their appeals and evidence, and it is with these that the commission is now dealing. The work is expected to occupy until the end of the week. Eew drastic modifications of the original plans are ever made, but on this, occasion the commission is also engaged in. considering applications for changing the name of some electorates, particularly the Hawke's Bay electorates, on the ground that the existing names are confusing. Its recommendations probably will not be known until it presents its report to the GovernorGeneral.
