NORSEWOOD R.S.A. BALL

Our Own Correspondent.)

(From

NORSEWOOD, Last Night. The Norsewood Returned Soldiers' Association's second annual ball, was a splendid success. The desire of the promoters to eclipse last year's ballwas attained. The decorative scheme under the guidance of Mrs B. Adamson and Mr K. Staiger, merited special mention. It was designed in red, wliite and blue streamers taken from the centre of the ceiling to the walls, where clusters of flags were artistically arranged at intervals. The stage looked effective with streamers nicely arranged, and a red, white and blue lattice-work along the front. In additiou to the attractive decorations, the many beautiful and varied coloured f rocks worn combined to present a gay scene. At 8.30 p.m. "Diggers" under F. Bishop and M. A. McLaren got under way the splendid varied programme of popular old-time and modern dances. Mr Te Tau's popular orchestra provided the music. Mr B. Te Tau, of the Wairarapa, was pianist for the orchestra. The following wei'e the winners of the novelty dances; Mystery Monte Carlo, Miss G. Parsons and Mr C. Nordbye ; spot^Avaltz, Miss N. Donaldson (Dannevirke) and Mr E. Mather. Competitions for a bottle of wine and a. box of cbocolates wore won by Miss Donaldson and Mr C. Thompson respectively. The supper arrangements were under tbe direction oi' Mrs B. Bishop and her bund of helpers. Mr W. Te Tau, president ot the R.S.A. , thanked the company for the splendid patronage accorded the ball. He% thanked all who had helped in the success of the ball, with special reference to Mrs Adamson and Mr Staiger for taking cliarge of'the decorations, Mr Culliford for his help, and Mrs B. Bishop, who had so capably controlled and supervised the supper arrangements.
