MISS BALLANTYNE'S ANNUAL DANCE HELD IN NAPIER
Miss Jean Ballantyne ancj her pupils held their annual dance last evening in the Forester's Hall, Napier, when a very happy timo was spent by everyone. The hall was decorated in gold and cyclamen tonipgs. Deep frilled shades of cyclamen, alternated with goldfrilled shades, were arranged along the walls and the large centre shades were in the same colours. The orchestra stage, from which Les Henry's orchestra rendered popuiar dance - music, lopked niost attractive with palnis and many pots of cyclamen. Bowls of mixed flowers "were arranged on the supper tables, which were laden with many savouries and sweets. Miss Fay Hall, wearing white net over taffeta, Hilary Fendall, wearing daffodil net over satin, and Rona Ltenouf, wearing a irock of white selfspot . taffeta, assisted Miss Ballantyne, who wore a gown of golden brown chiffon, over which was worn a full-length coat of golden brown chiffon velvet, lined with sky-blue silk. . Mrs. E. -Ballantyne's ■ gown was of parrna violet triple georgette worn with a coatee.in a deeper .shade of -silk velvet. The following exhibit-ion dances wero given during the evening. — , Formation of the quickstep. — Ailsa Gifford, partnered by Charles Lee ; Justine Nesbitt, partnered by Trevor Cray ; Audrey Somerset-Smith, partnered by Douglas Densliain ; Marjorv Cowlrick, partnered by Maurice Cowlrick ; Zoe Brewster, partnered by Maurice Gibson ; Ray Sherning, partnered by Pat Shirley. The slow foxtrot was danced by Fay Hall, partnered by Graham Fox ; Ailsa Gifford, partnered by Charles Lee. Formation of the modern waltz. — Fay Hall, partnered by Graliam Fox; Hilary Fendall, partnered by lan Logan; June Burton, partnered by Frank Skarpley; Rona Renouf, partnered by Harold Mayo; Margot Hole, partnered by Ivan Apperley. Winners of the junior ballroom dancing prize were: Mary Clark and Gordon Lowe, the senior winners being Ailsa Gifford and Charles Lee. Two special prizes were awarded to Graham Fox and lan Logan. Tap duo. — Fay Hall and MilJred Greenfield smartly dressed in white satin suits, of pleated skirts, plain tops with low-cut backs and finished with a pink sash. Pink bows were worn in the hair and tlie shoes were of silver. Tap ballet. — Rae Fleming, Beth Tocker, Ailsa Gifford," Helen Gifford. Justine Nesbit, Peggy Alexander, Joy Newton, Audrey Somerset-Smitli, in white pleated shorts with a yellow strip up tlie ' sides, yellow tops with Peter Pan collars, yellow bows in the hair and gold" shoes. Top trio. — Ruth Tocker, Ray Sherning and Margot Hole, who looked attractive in scarlet consisting 'of fully pleated shorts with matchiug top finished with buttons and a wide belt at the waist. A scarlet ribbon was worn in the hair and red shoes were worn. 'Modern cabaret tango. — Fay Hall, -Ross, Lucy Cassin, Rita and Una Parkinson, June Burton, Nancy Lomas and Nerieda Hill.
