Man Obtains Credit bjr Fraud Charged .with obtaining credit by fraud, James Patrick O'Brien, a bushrnan, of Whakarara, was fined £3 by Mr jTMiller, S.M., in the Napier Magistrate's Court this morning. Detective K. W. Mills appeared for the poliee, and th'e accused pleaded guilty, electing to be dealt with summarily. Detective Mills said that accused had asked to be taken from Napier to Waipawa by representing that he was tho f oreman of a constnuction company there. The company said that he had been engaged temporarily as a piledriver. but he had no authority to incur debts on their behalf. He had six previous convictions for similar offences, said the detective, and the money had since 'been paid. on his behalf. Coinmenting that much of the trouble seeined to have been caused by drink, the Bench issued a warning and imposed a fine of ' £3, allowing two days for payment.
