Reactions to the liysterical reception to tbe fihn star, Roberb Tavlor, iuclude tbe appearance of hundreds of film-struck women, many with greying hair, who, despite aching Iliearts and feet, besieged Claridgie's Hotel hoping for his appearance. The only Robert they saw was one in a blue uniform, who told them that their idol was not at the hotel, having gone to Paris. One disheartened girl declared her intention to concentr^te on Tomray Farr. Mr Walter Newling, former Mavor of Eastham. says: "Not oiily were the women welcomers badly let down, but they let dojvu Englaud and Enali&hwomqn,"
