CHINA AND SOVIET SIGN A PACT OF NON-AGGRESSION
(Received 30, 10.40 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Aug. 29. It is officially announced that & non-aggression pact between China and the Soviet was signed at Nanking on August 21. The par. ties condemn recourse to war, and each pledges not to assist an aggressor against the other. Toreign circles consider that the pact is innocuous but believe that an understanding between China and the Soviet at present will irritate the Japanese.
