Meeting at the Chateau

THE CHATEAU, Aug. 28. " The weather was unsettled and heavy snow showers made conditions soggy for racing at th$ ski-ing grounds. However, many competitors performed e'xcellently. The Ruapehu Ski Club's races resulted: — Women 's down hill: Miss J. D. Harrison, Auckland, 4min. 27secs 1; Miss I. A. Farrelly, Auckland, 6min. 36sec., 2; Miss I. E. S. Mclndoe, Auckland, 7min. 24sec., 3. Men's downhill: J. D. Murphy, Ruapehu. Si Club, lmin. 44sec., 1; E. Duncan, Ruapehu Ski Clttb, 2min. 16.2 sec% 2; A. Hayward, Feilding, 2min. 38.2sec., 3. Men's open downhill: J. Loveridge, Ruapehu Ski Club, lmin. 58.6sec., 1; A. R. Wilson, Tararua i'ramping Club, Lower Hutt, 2min. 11.2sec., 2; F. J. Martin-Leveson, "Ruapehu Ski Club, 2min, 33.6sec., 3. The finishing-post in these races was just above the New Zealand championshfp slalom course. It was fairly difficurt, being undulating with deep schusses, where some of the men competitors obtained remarkable speed. The Tararua Tramping Club held its two races over the New Zealand championship slalom course. Results: — Women 's slalom: Miss H. Gotlieb^ Wellington, 1; Miss M. Broughton, Wellington, 2. Men's slalom: A. E. Wilson, Hutt, 1; F. Akburst, Hutt, 2. 5
