VICTORIA COLLEGE FOOTBALLERS ENTERTAINED

The Masouic Hall. Waipukura'.i, presented a gay scene when' footballers and • their friends assembled for tho dance given in honour of tbe visiting Yictoria University football team wbicb plaj'ed a matck witb Te Aute College, tbe funds from tbe dance being in aid of tbe Waipukurau Eootball Queen, Miss Shirley Clay. Blue and white, the combined colours of, tbe Waipukurau and Old Boys' Eootball Clubs, wero used to deeorate tbe liall. Streamers in tbese , colours floatocl overhead, intermingled witb tiny iiags, tbe windows being screened in the same colours. From tbe stage, wbicb ,was bedecked witb greenery, tbe Majcstic orcbestra jilayed popular dance .music, . A delicious supper. was set out in tbe supper-room upon long tables decorated witb spring bulbs and streamers in blue and wliite. During tbe evening a Morite Carlo waltz was won by Miss Benbow and Mr Dower. Tbe committee respqnsible'for tbe arrangements was:. Mesdaines J. Lovatt, V. Kiug and M. Laue, wbo. were assisted by Mr M. Lane and Mr Y. King. -Among those .present were: — Mrs J. Lovatt, wbo was wearing black georgette, witb diamante clasp on ncckline and at waist. •Mrs V. King, primrose georgette gown Avorn'witb a deep pink veivet coatee. Mrs M. Lane. black rose patterned lace mounted on white satin witb a shoulder spray of violets. Mrs C, Wiliiamson, cream satin patterned in red and , blue, tbe flared sleeves shirred on sboulders. Mrs Bob liicketts, flame sue.de. frock worn witb a smart .floral ' tissue cape coatee. Mrs E. L. Ferguson,. wbite and blue floral frock worn witb . a deep blue tanic baving a wbite belt. Mrs N. ' Tate, frock' of. black lace witk a big pink rose on tbe corsage. Mrs J. Kendall, black cbifl'on veivet gown, tbe matcbing coatee baving a rucbed collar. Mrs J. Brandon, black veivet witb a wbife gardenia on neckline, and wbite plaited girdle. Mrs L. Hansen, old-gold suede satin frock, baving long sleeves and cluster of violets at neck. Miss G. McCarthy, pale blue organdie flowered iu saxe blue, worn witb a pale blue taffeta tailored coatee. Miss Pauline McCarthy^ spring green matelasse baving a wide gold belt and flat gold flowers on' neckline. Miss " M. Polhill, pale pink ninon, flowered in eherry and a matcbing veivet sasb. Miss H. Brassel, midnigbt-blue taffeta, witb a spray of isilver flowers on corsage. " " Miss Peggy Hartland, pastel green cotelle frock, baving puii'ed sleeves and a big pink rose 011 shoulder. Mios ' D. Thompson, wearing flame caft'eta, tlie matcbing coatee baving sbort puffed sleeves and flared basquo. Miss Margaret Holmes,' blue floral georgette frock witb sasb and corsage flowers of veivet in deep blue. Miss M. King, carnation-pink suede crepe, tbe faggoted neckline linished witb a deep pink floral spray. Miss Jean Fowler, black suede crepe frock witb sequin .trimmings on corsage.. Miss J'oy Faitbful, wearing black lace witb red clasp on tbe square-cut neckline and a red rose. Miss Jean Speedy^ deep blue cbiffon flowered in cberry and pale lemon, witk a long isasli iu pale blue and' pink. Miss B. Tinney, maroon silk veivet frock, baviug long sleeves a'nd wide gold belt. * - -Miss Shirley, Clay, peacock-blue lace gown/ tbo trained skirt' baving waterfall frills at tbe baek. Miss Honey Cutbbert, jade-green selfstriped cloque, baving waterfall frills at baek of tbe trained skirt. Miss J. Hartland, wearing black cbifl'on veivet/ witb a deep collar of gold sequins.
