D, BeatsoD sided.Moving the adoption of the annual : report and balance-sheet the chairman said he thought that the club had reason to congratulate itself upon the success of last year. In xecent years there had been a very small profit, or none at all, he said, and it was pleasing to know that the positioir of racing and of matters iinancial in general throughout the country were very much improved. "The general iruproveinent in the iinancial position of the country is reflected in the racing returns," he said, and went on to pbint out that during the past year there had been a general all-round increase compared with the previous years. Nominations and acceptances had-in-ercased froin £1116 to £1286, gate roceipts from £1400 to £1800, totalisator proilts from ' £6500 to £9600, and dividend tax collections from £2100 to £3200. Ae regards outgoings he pointed out that the stakes had been increased from £4100 to £5400, the totalisator taxes i'roiii £1900 to £2900, the dividend taxes from £2100 to £3100. The profit carried forward was £3596 this year as against £2006 last year. The farming account showed a slight proiit, but it was anticipated that during the coming year this aspect would show a big improvement. There had been a good improvement in membership, and generally, he said the club was in quite a uselul and satisfaetory iinancial position. Seconciing the motion, Mr F. P. Kelly paid a tribute to the fine work done during the '21 years he was in office by Mr H. S. Moss, the retired secretary, and he considered that at the next meeting of the commlttee the least that could be done was to make Mr Moss a life member in xecognition of his very valuable service. Thanks were also due to the late Mr A. O'Dowd, ^vho had given good service as clerk of the course. McCormick considered that it was not advisable for the whole committee to resign annually, but that only half should do so and the other hal'f the following year, making the term of office really two years. The chairman mentioned that at the recent Racing Conference the club and the Distriet Committee had been successful in having all tliree of its remits carried, and he considered that a remarkably fine performdnce.
