MRS. M. C. T. BAXTER
Mrs Margaret Cbristie Todd Baxter, widow of the late Mr J. B, Baxter, passed away at her residence afc Mangateretere yesterday morning at fbe age of 84. The deceased lady, wbo was born in Lanarksbire, Scotland, bad been a resident of the district for a great many years, coming to New Zealand 40 years ago. On ber arrival with ber busband sbe took over an fjrebard prqperty at Mangateretere, and in tliis sbe took a keen and active interest right up to tbe time of ber death. Her busband predeceased ber soinP years ago, and after bis death sbe continued to carry on tbe orchard, wliicb is now oue of tlie oldest in tbe district. Althougb of a somewbat refiring disposition, the deceased lady Avas wqll-known in tbe djstrict and was beld jn tbe bigliest esteejn by a large circle qf friends. To mpurn her death sbe ieaves ber brotber and sister, Mr and Miss Todd, wbo bad beep resjding withi ber for rnany years past.
