Mellington Rates Increase 4i Per Cent. - £22,000 MORE NEEDED

WELLINGTON, Last Night. Because of rising costs the Wellington Harbour Board deeided last night to increase its charges by £22,000, representing a rise of 41 per cent. Strong exception to the new tariff was taken by members representing couutry interests, and kn amendment was mo ed to defer the decision until the results of the year's working were Juiown. This, however, was defeated by six votes to four.
