Brian Hasler, of Hastings, gained iiret place in the song for boys nnder 12 years. And first for boys' xecitation iu. charqcter not llumorous, under 12 years. Brian Hasler 's perforniauce in Cliis latter class received praise from tlie . judgo, Professor Walker. "The winner gave one of the best performances 1- have listened to," lie said. "ILe acted tho part splcndidly with genuine feeling." The same competitor was highJy commeuted m the action recilation, boy or girl, under 12 yejirs, own selection. Noel Mahon, Napier, was third in the «ong in charactcr, boy or girl 12 to 10 years, own selection. with a renderitig of the "Indian Love Call." Johu Martin, Napier, was third iu the boys' song under 12 years, and Cara Hamilton, Napier, was highly commended in tho girls' junior test re-cital, 9 to 12 years, own selection.
