Waipukurau Dairy Factory
(•From
WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. A hint that the Waipukurau dairyfactory may hav.e to close if there is a drop in the supply here was given l>y Mr D. G. Begley, chairman of directors of tho Heretaunga Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., at a meeting of Central Hawke's Bay suppliers to-day. He hoped it would not become necessary for the management to eonsider taking the supply to Hastings and manaifacturing under one roof, but if it should become necessary, he assured suppliers that the board would act in the best interests of all concerned with the aim, of eliminating unnecessary overhead expenscs. Stating that 6ome of Ihe suppliers lived 40 miles from the Hastings factory, Mr A. F. Cook said he hoped that the matter would be seriously considered before the Waipukurau factory was closed .down. "We will reach the last ditch before we attempt to manufaeture under one roof," replied Mr Begley. Referring to tfie eft'ect of a 40-mile journey on the cream, he added that it was recognised that quality was important, and the manager could not be -expected to produce a good aTticle if he did not get satisfactory Taw: material.
