Is Government Prepared. to Lose £3,000,000? DAIRY DIRECTOR SAYS "NO"
(From
WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. "Is the Government prepared to lose £3.000,000 on the guaranteed prico tliis year?" was a question that perplexed Mr A. F. Oook at the meeting of tho Heretaunga Dairy Co. 's suppliers in the Masonic Hall, Waipukurau, to-day. "I don't think so," replied Mr D. G. Begley, chairman of directors. '.'Possibly £300,000 would be nearer. but we are only guessing." He did not think the deficiency would be large, po'ssibly' about £500,000. "But none of us is in a position to give a definite estimate," he added. Mr Cook said he supposed the whole of the population would have to pay. That was tho position, Mr Begley replied. "There is a definite weakness there," he commented.
