Miller, S.M., at the Hastings Magistrate's Court this morning When convieting Robert Stauley Desmpnd Cowley, a hotel porter, on a charge £ wilfully eonverting to his own use a bicycle, valued at £3 10/-, the property of A. E. Tong. Deteetive Sergeant L. Revell said tbat ihe complainant went into a garaee and left the bicycle outside tbe main front door. TJpon bis returning to the street he saw the bicycle disappearing down the street so he gave chase on a motor-cycle and' o'vertook the accused. "This is the first time the accused has been before the Court. H© is 23 years of age . aud his parents reside in the South Island," said ihe poliee officer.
