LEGLESS MAN STARTS OFF ON A 143-MILES NON-STOP RIVER SWIM
(Received 25, 9.50 a.m.) NEW YORK. Aug. 24. Charles Zimmy, aged 43, the legless swimmer, has started a 143- • ✓ miles non-stop swim on the Hudson River from Alh'any to New York. It is expected that the swim will take six days. Zimmy plans to eat, sleep and smoke in the water. A later message states that Zimmy, at 9 a.m., had travelled 12 j miles. He shouted to watchers: | "Tell the folks I ani i'eeoing great. | Everything is going swell." He hopes to arzive ou August 1 28.
