Hatuma Meeting .The president, Miss Allan, presided . over 35 members at the August meeting of the. Hatuma Women's Instituto wkieli was lield in the Hatuma Hall. Visitors, wero present from Elsthorpe and Tikokino. Sympatky was expressed to Miss E. A. Hobson in her illness and to Mrs J. S. Wilson in the loss of her home tUraugli fire; Miss Smith, of -Feilding, the demonstrator for the day, gave an instructive talk on pewter wOrk. The results of the competitions for the day were as follow: Best bloom.— Mrs Bayliss (pansy) 1, Mrs Grant (Japonica) 2, Mrs Allan and Miss Simmons (polyanthus) 3. Prettiest toilet set.— Miss Simmons 1, Mrs J. Wilson 2, Miss J." Allan '3. Girdle scones.— Mrs PcCterson 1, Mrs H. Martin 2, Mrs Coombes 3. Beautiful flowers brought by the gardening circle, were afterwards sent to the sanatorium. The. hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames .Carey, J. A. Grant, W. Hopkinson, Misses E. Bayliss and E; Grant. Memhers reported tliat tho "Flag 500'* card evening held recent] y had "proved a great suecessv The winuers liad been Mr and Mrs R. Martin, Mrs 11. McLean and Mr Simmons. Consolation prizes went to Misses Kitty Iliddle and Jean Wilson and Messrs Allan Wilson and J. Dowuey.
