The eompetitors are the Tepresentatives of the combined primary schools in the Wairoa, Napier, Hastings, Central Hawke's Bay alid Dannevirke distriets. Apart from fke crowd. Of juvenile supporfers tkere_ was a numher of Rugby entkusiasts, officials df tho Hastings RUgby Football Sub^Union, ttnd representatives of local bodies and schbol committees present. A welcome to the visiting teams was extended hy the Mayor, Mr. G. A. Maddison, and he nrged them in their play to favour_team-work rather than individualism, Two games were played this morning ttnd the standard of play was quite satisfactory, the teams providing most interesting and bright games , The xesults wer« as follow: — HasSngs defcated Dannevirke by nine points to tkree. Central Hawke's Bay defeated Napier by five points to three. Two further games were set down for this af ternoon, and the tournament will be continued to-morrow morning and af ternoon, and again on Thursday, tke final between the leading teams taktug placo on Thursday afternoon.
