Hawke's Bay Successes Hawke's Bay competitors secured a uumber of successes at the Manawata Competitions Society 's annual eompetitions Avliieh commenced at Palmerston North yesterday. Miss Edna Maye (Paki Paki) was first for sailor 's horripipe, 10 to 13 years/ with Miss Joy Key (Napier) se-
cond. Miss Valerie MeCombe (Hastings) was first for recitation, girls 12 to 14 years, and second for iiumorous recitation, girls 12 to 16 years. Miss Agnes Upton (Hastings) was first for recitation, girls 14 to 17 years, and first for humorous recitation, girls 12 to 16 years. Miss Ivena Potkan (Hastings) was first equal for classical dance, 14 to 18 years, first for character recital, 12 to 16 years, third for recitation, girls 14 to 17 years, and third for humorous recitation, girls 12 to 16 years. Miss Vida Hayes (Hastings), was second for skippiug dance, 14 to 18 years. Miss Margaret Hellyer (Napier) was third for song in character, under 12 years. Miss Stella Chambers (Napier), was second for vocal solo, girls 14 to 17 years. Miss Norma ltayner (Napier), was second in national dance, 7 years and under. Miss Pat Over (formerly of Hastings), was first for clog dance, opdn, first for Irish jig, 13 to 17 years, second for classical dance, 14 to 18 years, and seoond in Highland reei, under 17 years. In the vocal solo (ladies) Miss J. Hansard (Dannevirke) was first, and Miss I. Grakam (Woodville) second, Miss Graham also being second in the ciass for sacred solo ladies).
