NAPIER CLUB'S 10,000 METRES HANDICAP

The ; Napier Harriers' Club held a 10,000 metres open handicap race on Saturday over their championsliip course at Kennedy road extension. A large field faced the starter. Following are the results: E. Strachan (5min. handicap) 1; R. McGregor (4.45) 2; B. Reid (4.25) 3; L. Eeading (3.25) 4; L. Hatch 2.45) 5; p. Brocks (4A.45) 6. Fastest time was secured by L. Hatch (38min. I9sec.), with I. Eeading second (39min.), and B. "Eeid third (29min. 23sec.). After the race the following teams were selected to compete for Napier -in the Hawke's Bay — Poverty Bay championships, to be held at Hastings next Saturday: — A team. — L. Hatch (captain), A. Lord, A. G. llijglies, G. Denford, I. licading and B. Eeid. - 13 team. — F. Brook (captain), R. ^trachan, E. McGregor, \V. Smith, E. lo'hason and L. Green. All runners are to nicet at D. J. Martin's sliop, Emcrson street. at 1.30 p.m. stiarp.
