Maori Crushed to Death

Through a car leaving the road on a sliarp bend on the Ihames-Tapu main highway, Charles Manu, a native, aged 40, married, a resident of Black Swan Creek, was accidentally killed. A passing motorist observed the car upside down on the sea shore below the road and found Manu pinncd under tho seat dead. Deceased was alone in the car at the timo. He was a contraCtor and drove school children from Black Swan Creek to the Tapu School. An inspection revoaled that the chr had no brake bands on the back wheels. The car was considerably damaged, one door being •found lifty yards away.
