Mr J. P. Boyle was re-elected vicepresident at the annual meeting of the Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Association. Messrs T. Mitchell, A. Bartle, T. Muirhead Crawford and G. T. H. Joll were elected to the committee of the Hawke's Bay Fruitgrowers' Association at the annual meeting on Saturday. Mr Runcan McFarlane, Hawke's Bay, is staying at New Plymouth with Mr J. McNeill. Mr McFarlane's cousin, the Rev. Dougail McFarlane, is Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. The death occurred at Otako on Thursday morning of Mr James Poole Brandon, who was Mayor for some time and manager of a bank at both Masterton and Palmerston North. He had a long illness. He is survjved by a grown-up family. At Friday's meeting of the Waipukurau Chambers of Commerce, it was decided, on the motion of Mr A. C. Holms, to write to Mr John Warren, a past secretary of the chamber^ cojigratulatiug him and Mrs Warren on tho recent attainment of their sixty-third wedding auuiversary. Mr E. Muller, who has occupied the position of vice-president of the Neslle and Anglo-Swiss Holding Co., Ltd., of Wevey, Switzerland, wast at a recent meetiug of the board of directors of that company, unanimously elected to the position of president, vice Dr. Louis E. C. Dapples, whose death was recently reported. Mr. Ken Crump, Wyndham, Southland, a student in Knox College, Dunedin, has been accepted by the Presbyterian Church Board of Missions as missiouary-desiguate to the island of Nguna, New Hebrides, in succession to the late Eev. W. Y. Milne, who was killed by a native last April. Mr. Crump is to be licensed by the Presbytery of Mataura on October 26 and will probably be ordained later at Wyndham.
