HASTINGS ORPHANS

Dunedin Visitors Entertained at Korero The Hastings Orphans' Club held its sixth korero last evening. A party of visiting Rugby football representatives from Otago was present, as well as members of the Dunedin Orphans' Club, two of wliom supplied items. The programmo was as follows: Orchestral overture, "Ivanhoe"; songs, Orphan Eastwood; accordeou solos, Oiq>han Bartlett (Dunedin) ; banjo solos, Orphan Murphy (Dunedin). Orphan Ten Heighway told a serios of humorous stories, al'ter which the gathering adjourned for supper. The second portion of the programmo opened with a descriptivo nuiuber by the orchestra, "Echoes of tho South." Orphan Donald Davies supplied two humorous elecutionary items, followed by Orphan Vic Minnmery in two violi^ solos. The final item was a short description of a studio scone during a radio broadcast. The talk proved interesting and the speaker Mr E. H. Culver placed some little-known knowledge before his audience, showing liow radio "effects" were produced and giving instatices of the extreme sensitiveness of the microphone.
