Maori's Fortitude While pig-shooting at Raukokore, s native, Pahu Puha, single, aged 32, received a severe shotgun wound in the left sboulder and is now in the Opotiki Hospital. His condition is fairly serious. Puha had killed a pig and slid his guu down a bank when it discharged. "Notwithstanding his injury, tlie injured man carried the pig for a distance of live miles, but his condition becaine> so serious that be was conveyed to hospital. £3231 Damages Stephen Higgins a carpenter, was awarded damages totalling £3231 15/6 in the Supreme Court at Wellington yesterday for injuries he received when he was knocked down by a taxi in Adelaid© road last April. The taxi, which was owned by James Vivian Siddall, was being driven by Charles An-. thony Wilfred Wheeler. In consequence of the accident, plaintiff lost his right ieg and received injuries to his head and sight. He alleged negligence against the driver and souglit £5000 general and £231 15/6 speeial damages. All Black Training In preparation for the second Tesi with the touring Springhoks, the All Blacks will have the services of the same officials as for tbe first Test — Mr J. T. Burrows as manager, with Mr W. J. Wallace to assist with the coacliiug of the team. The players will have sotne days together in Christchurch before the match, which is to take plaro on September 4.
