TE AWAPUNI MEETING

The Te Awapuni Women 3% Institute held their monthly meeting on Wednesday, the attendance of members being good. Mrs. L. Gordon presided and opened the meeting by the repetition of the Women 3s Institute creed. Business- and xoutine matters were then dealt withi Mts. L. Gordon introduced Mrs. C. J. Baker, of Haumoana, who was the delegate from the federation to the recent xound-table conference in Wellington. Mrs. Baker gave a most interesting report of her experiences. Afternoon tea was served and then Mrs. Baker gave a demonstration. on rock gafdens and,- miniature gardens, and these • being the eompetition at the next A. and P. Show the members were interested to see Mrs. Baker make the seed bed, making each plant a little home for itself. Paths and water effects were allowable and garden ornaments only in eompetition No. I, Where all plants had to be growing. Members asked many questions and seemed keenly interested. Mrs. Baker was thanked very mueh for her interesting demonstration.
