WOOLSHED DANCE AT WAIPUKURAU
The Porangahau Queen Carnival was enabled ta hold a suecessful dance for their chosen queen, Miss J. .Ormond, in Mr E. B. Todd's spacious woolshed, which had been attractively decorated and" transformed into a dance-hall, through the generosity of Mr Todd in loaning) his woolshed for the purpose. The shed was decorated .by Mr R. O. Bousfield, Messrs E. Todd, K. MeKenzie and W, Gaston. Overhead were streamers of bracken intermingled with big red paper poppies and iriany coloured streamers, all the lights having red shades. From a raised dais, screened with bracken and big palms, Wi Ihincan's Orchestra played bright, sparkling music. Competitions run by Messrs D. Irwin and K. McKenzie added to tho evening,'s merriment. Supper arrangements were in charge of Mesdames R. O. Bousfield, H. Hooper and Miss Jean Hunter. A savoury supper was" eerverl in the cook-house, the long tables being artistically decorated with bowls of japonica and prunus. The Queen's supporters donated the music and the bus to convey dancers from Waipukrau so that' tliere were no expenses. Some of those present were: — Mr and- Mrs E. B.
