FOTHERGILL—READ
Florence Catherine, second daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Read, of "Ngiaire," Norsewood, and Tkoinas Fothergill, eldest son* of Mr and the late Mrs T. Fotliergili,* of "Spring Bank," Makotuku, were married in the Norsewood Methodist' Chureh by the Rev. A. C. Waite, Dannevirke, on Wednesday. . Mrs E. Parsons, the church organ.'"ist, ^presided at the organ. The church had bqen tantefully. decorated by the bride'.s great uncle, Mr H, P. Mor•tensen. Thei bride looked sweet, in an exquisite frock of heavy ivory satin, "made on slim-fitting lines, with the • bodice featuring a boat-sbaped neck with lace front, and rounded waistline. Tbe back was adorned with tiny buttons and ioops, and tbe skirt fell into a long square train, trimmed with lace and lace medallion insets. The sleeves were full at tbe sboulders, and tapered to a point over tbe wrists. Her embroidered veil was arranged well off the face, and was held in place with a coronet of orange blossoms and tiny arum lilies, falling to form a second train. She carried a shower bouquet of winter roses, spring flowers and maidenhair fern and wore wbite satin shoes to tone. The bride was attended by the Misses Joan Read, Betty Wilson and Ina Ridge, goWned alike in ground-length eau d© nil green crepe navona trimmed with green lace and gold buttons, and sash. Gold head bands and shoes, and shower bouquets of gold tonings completed their toilette.
Tbe bridegiroom was attended by Mr G. Fothergill as best man, and Messrs E. O. Read and C. R. Fothergill as groomsmen. After the ceremony about 120 guests were entertained at a reception in tho Town Hall where they were received by Mr and Mrs F. Read and Mr T. Fothergill. The bride' s' mother wore a charming navy blue self-striped tailored costume and navy peach bloom hat, shoes, gloves and fur stole. She also carried a beautiful bouquet of begonias in red tonings and maiden-hair fern. Later the young couple left for their honeymoon — an extended tour of the North Island. The bride travelled in a smart tailored fawn-striped costume, and navy hat, shoes, gloves and handbag. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, and to each of the bridesmaids a gold armlet. The bride's present to the bridegiroom was a pair of leather motoring gloves. In the evening Mr and Mrs F. Read entertained a large number of relatives and friends at a dance in the Town Hall. Mr and Mrs Fothergill' s future home will be in Makotuku.
