POEMS BY HAVELOCK NORTH RESIDENT

During her residence' in Havelock North Mrs Sladden made many friends and they will be glad to know that she has published a number 'of small books. The latest, a collection of verse which is' entitled "The Voice of the Soul," will bring relief to readers distracted with the clangour of the outer world. Here is o.ne of her poems:

HEAVEN AND EARTH. A heart , filled full of Love, is full of Heaven, And man may live in Heaven any time, If he is filled with Love! He need not wait until he leaves behind Tho world of mortal things. When all his being overflovra with Love, He is uplifted o'er the cares of earth, And lives serene, in atmosphere of Heaven! When he is taken from this mortal state, He loves more richly; serves more fully; knows That the beginning, and the end, of all, Is "just Eternal Love, made manifest.
