DX Club Farewells Mr. A. S. Annand

WAIEUJi-UiiAU, J^ast mignr. Mr Allan S. Annand, a foundatiou and lifo-member of tho Hawke's Bay DX Club, Waipukurau, was farewelled at a well-attended meeting last night. The president, Mr V. L. King, paid tribute to tlie guest of honour, who had been seerei;ary aud later president. As a small token of the members' goodwill Mr King kanded a silver-mounted pipe to Mr Annand. . Other speakers were Messrs A. C. Holms (a member of the Centrai Hawke's Bay Power Board), L. VV. Griffiths, E. Malkin and B. Mathieson (viee-chairman), the first pointing to the high esteem in which Mr Annand waB held in commercial as well as radio circles, having won the goodwill of a large body of friends, including the older generation who knew his father as a local businessman. Afl the speakers rcferred to the keeness Mr Annand had consistently shown. After musical honours had been aecorded Eim, Mr Annand replied, saying that he might become a resident- of Wellington instead of going to Australia, in which cass he would be no stranger to them in the future. On the inifiative of Mr Holms tho health of the president was enthusiasticaJly toasted, and Mr Malkin was responsible for a similar compliment to Mr L. G. Blaekie, whose service as> demonstrator (notably in the construction of a raodel radio set) was specially refcrred to.
