METHODIST LADIES' MISSIONARY MEETING HELD
The members of tlie Methodist Ladies5 Missionary Auxiliary met for tli-eir annual meeting on Tuesday in the girls } room. The presideiit, ifrs -C.« G. (Junnold, oeeuxded tho chair, and conducted tho devotions. Mr H. Hampton, Ihe sccretary, presented the 22hd annual report wliich showcd a ycar of self-saerillcing labour. Tho work of the inission in the Solomon Islanda had been carried on most faithfully, as the monthly letters reeeived testifled. Great oxtensions were being- play.ned, and next year it was hoped to send out another sister and a nurse, as well as the doetor. The visits of Eev. B. Gina, the general seeretary, Rev. A. H. Serivin, and also of the Eev. J. F. Goldie ,during the year ha'd . been very helpful and addresses given by Mr H. Nielson and Miss J. McGregor on the work of India interested the members. Two parcels of old stockings (to be made into garments for children m hospital) had been forwarded for the Mukti Eamabai itiseion and six saeks of old clothes to Si&tcr Dobby for the Maori inission work in the north. A Cliristmaa-box sent for the Solomon Islands had been valued at £2 5/while £1 5/- had been forwarded for the same purx>ose. The work among the Maori girls in. Auckland at the Ivurahuna Girls' School was proving very wortli-wliile. Tlie sum of £S 13/liad been collected for home mission work and £21 9/3 raiscd at a bring--and-buy sale ior the foreign work. Altogether the sum of £67 had been reeeived during the year, this being an increase of £1-1 3/S on last year's offerings. Sever,al very fine address had been given by visiting speakers and the society had aecepted two invitations to visit other societies. The year had been a very happy and proiitable one; tbe increase in memborship and interest had boeu a maltcr for sincere gratitude. The oflicers were thanked for their ablo services and kjrs E. B. Gosnoll thanked Mrs Cunnold, on behalf of the society, for her many years of service and presented her ivith a dainty shoulder sx)rlly of spring flowers. Eev. E. B. Gosnell condacted ihe election of officers for the ensuing year, Afrs Cunnold being re-olected president, and Mrs Hampton seeretary, with Mrs S. Russell as minute seeretary. Afternoon tea was served and the Benedietion closed tbe meeting.
