The total ordiuary revenue amounts to £288,052,063, coinpared with £219,016,519 at tlie corresponding date of last year. The income tax, at £39,074,000, lias yielded £4,709,000 more so far tliis year. Tho growth of overseas trade has raised the receipts by over £5,000,000 to £81,713,000, The total expenditure, less selfbalancing items, is £'310,346,643, compared with £293,517,639 at the corresponding date of 1936. Over £2,000,000 of the increase is due to the higher cos't of interest and the management of the national debt.
