NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. Local body government was not a hobby and local bodies should be prcpared to administer areas of poorer land just as they contrallod areas where the rates were more easily eolleetable, wrote the Ministcr of Internal Affairs (Hon. W. E. Parry) in rcply to a petition by the Whangamomona County ratepayers that the Government should take control of the county. The petition was signed by a' hundred ratepayers who made the request ou the ground that the Whangamomona Caunty Council could not efficiently administey the county with the rates and revenue at its command. The cotmty contains a considcrable area of wllat is' termed detcriorated land from whieh it is _ difncult to collect rates and in wfilch somo holdings have been abaudoned. ^
