Waipukurau Club's Report

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Tho aunual report of the Waipukurau Defenee Itifle Club is as follows;— *■ The elub commeueed the year with a credit baiance of £13 11/1, and ended with a cxedit baiance of £11 6/3. !It is with feelings of sineere regret that we have to record the death of Mr. E. Limbriek, a vice-presideut of tho club, who, during his stay in Waipukurau, wus a very keen supporter oi thft club A total of 21 club shoots was held during the year, with an average attendance of 12.4. The five all-day shoots proved very popular and had an average attendance of 16. The standard of shooting was the highest cn record, and keeii competition was ex> hibited in all shoots, We heartily congratulate Rifleman N. Tayior on winning the club championship, his total of 491 being a club record, giving hira an average of 163.6 out of 175 for three shoots, Rifleman McVicar was runner-np with an average of 161, and Rifleman Haldane third with 160.3. Four riflemen jotirneyed to Trentham to compete at the New Zealand ehampionship meeting, all appearing in tho prize lists at some stiage of the meeting. Riflemen Haldane and McVicar gained places in the King's Fifty. In the N.Z. teams championship, over 30 teams competed, our representatives doing particularly well to finish in 10 th plaee ,seven points behind the winners, who won with a record score. The individual scores wero: AlcVicar 100, Haldane 99, Tinney 99, Wilson 97 — a total of 395 out a possiblo 420. In tho Hawke's "Bay nflo clubs' champion teams' match, 13 teams competed. Okawa A were the winners, having a total of 486, followed by Napier A 481, Waipukurau A 476, Clraggy Range A 472. In the 10-men teams' match against Takapau for the John Ormond Cup, Takapau was soccessful with a total of 1825, wiilfling by 23 points. In tho teams'' mateh with the Sergeants' Mess of the 1st Battalion Wellington Regimont (sorvice conditions) for the Froth Blowers' Cup, Waipukurau A team won with a total of 426. The leadiug averages in the season's tcam shooting are as follow: — E. T. Haldane 98, F. N. AfcVicar 97, Dep.Prcs. W. G. Bryce 93.6, N, Tayior 93,
F. Tinney 93, F. Fryer 92, L. J. Tayior 91.2, J. A .Chambers 90.3, F. I. Wilsou 90.1, 8. Aunand 87.4. Best scores over 300, 500, and 600 yards were: E, T. Haldane 100, 101, 103; N. Tayior, 101, 100; F. N. McVicar, 100, 100; J. A. Chambers, 100. Over 800 and 900: L. J. Tayior 68; N. Tayior, 67, 67; W. G. Bryce, 65, 65. E. T. Haldane, 65; F. N. McVicar, 65.
