Wallingford Meeting

At the August meeting of the Wallingford Women \ Institute, Mrte. J. D. Ormond presided over a large attendance of members and several yisitors. A cordiai welcome was extended to Mrs Groves and Miss Balfour, the two new-ly-elected members. After routine business had been disposed of, arrangements were made for the annual dance, which is to be held in Mr. Ormond 's woolshed on August 25. An interesting letler was received from tho Institute link in Scotland. The president extended congratulations to the (drama circle on the sue-

cess of their play prcduced at the festival held in. Waipawa recently, and wished them every success at the Hastings drama festival. Mrs_ Ormond introduced Miss Sheila McLauchlan, of Waipukurau," who gave an interesting and instructive demonstration on tho making of wood-pulp flowers, and at the conelusion was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. The roll-eall for the day, "Spring eleaning hints," brought forth some very useful suggestions. After tea had been dispensed by tho hostesses for the day, Mesdames W. Rickey, R. Stoddart Balfour, S. Ward and Hervison, the competitions were judged by Miss G. Irvine and Miss Green. Fuliowing were the results: — Knitted bed packet, Mrs. Ormond 1, Mrs. Stcvenson 2, Mrs. R. P. Wilder 3. Best winter deeoration, Mrs. Judd, senr., 1, Mrs. E. McNutt 2, Mrs. Ormond 3.
