BIG INCREASE IN EXPORTS

"" RTJGBY, Aug. 16. Overseas trade in July was £26,000,000 more ' than -in July; 1936. The exports of United Kingdom igoods were. valued.-at £47,569,834, :the highest since July, 1930, and compare with £44,373,015 in June and £40,085,922 ia year ago. , - 1 Imports were valued at £85,505,039 as .against £88,116,677- in June last year. •The values for June and . July wero £67,599,397 and £68,735,352 respeetiveiy- ■ In the iirst seven months of this year United 'Kingdom exports exceed in valUe tho exports for the same period in-1930 by £7,183,912, and that this increase does not' merely refiect the rise in prices is shown by tho. fact that exports of coal have risen from 19,634,913 tons in sevcn months last year to 22,704,388 tons this year, despite Italy's taking less than half the quantity she took in 1935, tho last normal year; also exports of iron and steel and manufactures from. them have risen from 1,266,902 tons to 1,581,730 tons. On tho 'other hand the rise in the value -of imports is largely the resnit .of higher prices. ,
