Alterations in Syllabus Alterations in the syllabus lor the Chamber of Commerce commercial examinations for this year were announced in a communication received by the Hastings Chamber at its meeting last evening from the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, Diplomas, it was stated, will in luture take tbe place of three or more certificates The liiglier speeds in shorthand are being included and the subject of comifterciaJ English and business letter-writing is being treated independently, The Wellington Chamber suggested that the managers of large business firms should be personally circularised, but tbe Hastings Chamber felt that its action in circu'iarising al] the schools covered the ground adequately. "The examin'ations are already regarded iavourably by Hastings business men," said the secretary, Mr V. A. Thomson. f
