Mr P. Mobi, of St. George's road, Hastings, js aix inmate of Roystoix Hospital. Dr. A.- W. Beeve was yesterday appojnted by the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board as as'sistant honorary physician at the Memorial Hospital, ' Hastings. ** Mx" and Mrs E.'Ferris, of Wellington, ax'e spending a week in Hastings as the guests of Mr and Mrs A. H. Pope of Townshend street, Hastings. Miss Lilian Banks, at present tntox sister at the Palmerston North Hospital, has been appointed to the position of xnatron. Mr. T. M. Geddis, ehairman of the Napier Harbour Board, has been elected a member of the management com* mittee of the New Zealand Harbour Boards' Industrial Dnion of Employers. Mr J. G. L. Scott, of Christchurch, has received an appointment to the Tangauyika Territory police, under the Colonial Office. He will leave next month for England to take a preliminary year 's course at the Police College, Hendon. Mr H. H. Innes, who has been in England for 10 month3 as marketing research officer for the Primary Products Marketing Department, returned to Auckland, by the Mataroa on Saturday. He will make his headquarters in Wellington. Mr T. A. Moodie, of Napier, who has been appointed New Zealand superintendent for Dalgety and Company, Limited, accompanied by Mrs Moodie and their daughter, left Auckland by the Arawa on Saturday for a six weeks' trxp to Panama aixd back. Captain V. G. Webb, marine superintendent of the (Jnion Steam Ship Company, Limited, and Mr lt. L. Gillies, superintending engineer, will leave for England on August 26 in connection with the cofnpany's building programme, which at present covers seven new ships. Mr Arthur Henderson, Labour M.P. for Kingswinford, Staffordshire, is expected to arrive at Wellington from England on August 25. During his stay in the Dominion he will give several public addresses under the auspices of the International Peace Campaign, Mr Joseph Bell Simpson, formerly of the Inglewood district, where he was farming on Durham, Road, died last week at the New Plymouth hospital at the age of 69 years. Mr Simpson did much good work for the Moa Road Board and the Taranaki County Council. Some years ago he gave up farming and settiecl at New Plymouth, M. Lewis de Gielgud, Under-Secre tary-General to the League of Red Crqss Societies, which has its headquarters in Paris, xs expected .to arrive ra New Zealand on September 20. for a montfl's leoturing tour of the Dominion. He has been visiting Cbina and Japan, and is at present in Australia.
