The new handles were adopted to overcome the disadvantages of the conventionial leather straps, which become cracked and weakened in outdoor service. To give further protection to the men riding on the tailboard, the new trucks are equipped with a shatter-proof glass rear wind shield fitted' with wing-type wind defiectors. . Semaphore-type direction signals and a flashing red light on the cab are added safety features.
