SYDNEY, Aug. 15. j New Zealand defeated Australia in> the hockey Test by oue goal to nil. The attendanee was 4000, and the ground was sodd'en though the weather wasfine. ° Australia fielded a very poor side, compared with inter-stato teams and New Zealand were easily the better team. Fine play by the Australian backs prevented a greater seore. Clark, the New Zealand baek, was the outstanding player on tho field. Hittinig the ball with tremendous power, he twice hit the ball the full length o i> the field in the air, an amazing exhibition. The New Zealand half -backs, Bobertson and Watson, were splendid in attack and they were greatly assisted by Dey, who scored the only goal. Dufjfield and Koughton were always danjgerous in the forwards. ^
