Two Boys Narrowly Escape Drowning

AUCKLAND, Last Night. ! Eescued by the father of oue and by & passing motorist after they had beeD jbattling against a st:f ng outgoing tide !for almost an hour, two messengers employed at the Thames Posfc Office, :P. E. 'Thorburn, aged 17, and W. E. ' . jDavis, aged 16, had a narrow escape ifrom drowning in the-sea about a mile E.on the Thames side of Tapu this after.noon and were taken to the Thames hospital in an unconscious condition. , The boys had been fishing from a •idinghy, which had not been used for !»omo time, and when it was a considerjable distance from the shore at Waiomio, it started to leak and foundexed under the*, , throwing them into the sea. j Bescuers swam ont and secured the "wiys just in time.
