COMING-OF-AGE PARTY HELD AT PUKETAPU
A joily and successful coming-of-age party was keia in the Puketapu Hall recently, wken Mr. and. Mrs. W. Strackan, of Puketapu, entertained tke friends of tkeir. second daugkter, Dorothy, in konour of ker twenty-first birtkday. Tke hall was very gaily decorated witk pink and silver streamers and masses of greenery interspersed witk brigkt balloons. Dancing was enjoyed to music played by the Buffs' orckestra, and games also caused muck. amusement. Seveial items given were very keartily applauded, and encores kad to be responded' to. Miss Dorotky Strackan ' gave a tap danee, and looked very charming in a suit with long pants and coatee; Miss Eaith Stevens gave piano items, wkick were mueh enjoyed; mouth-organ duets were played by Mr. Vic Viggers and Mr. Jack May, and Mr. Erie! Skuker played a piano-accordeon • solo. Before supper was served several toasts were konoured, tke most important being that of tke guest of konour, Miss Dorotky Strackan, and her fiance, Mr. Eric Skuker, who received very hearty congratulations from their friends. The capable toast master was Mr. Barden. Tke guest of honour wore a gown of black mirror velvet witk silver skoulder straps, girdle, corsage spray and skoes. -Her coatee was of pink velvet. Mrs. W. Strackan, wko witK Mr. Strackan, received tke guests, woTe a gown of navy blue georgette witk a red skoulder spray. After supper i dancing was continued until 12 o'clock, tke last waltz being very jolly witk streamers and confetti, and afterwards all present joined in tke singing of "Eor She's a Jolly Good Pellow," "Auld Lang Syne," and i tke National Antkem. Among tke 200 guests were: — Mrs. W. H. Skuker, wko wore a smart model frock of navy blue gorgette witk inset panels of needlerun lace and a spray of tnanve and puTple flowers. Miss Sylvia Strackan, long skirt of black maroeain worn witk a floral silk evening blouse. • Mrs, Rex Skuker, whit'e georgette gown worn with a silver girdle and silver shoes. Miss Joan Skuker, pale green taffe'f'a witk a green velvet coatee.
