URGENT WORK 'AT PUREORA SANATORIUM

WAIPUKURAU, This Day. A telephone mcssago to the elfect that a Government gjrant of £17.50 for .work at the Pukeora Sauatorium liacl been authorised. was received during yesterday's meeting of the Waipawa Hospital Board Iii a letter which was read at the meeting, the Director-Gennral of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, stated that he hoped lie would soon be ahle to advise the board .that the yropused grant would soon he ajiproved. The finance committee of the! board. in view of this advice, reoommended that, with a view to avoiding unnece^sary c^lay, the Sanatorium .Medieal Superintendent and managing sccretary be authorised to conicr with the board' s arghitects for the jrurpose of I bringing down a . report containing a J schedule of the most urgent works under one contract, on th« understanding that the matter of improvcd staff accommodation nrust he the ' first charge on the fund. The recommendatlon was adopted on the motion of Mr D. W. Neild, who, when dealing with the sanatorium in his report, had stated, "Work cries out for attention in every direction at this institution, and the Government grant cannot como too soon."
