Eutomological Division Going to Nelson CENTRALISATION SCHEME

NELSON, This Day. . In connoction with tho GoVenimcnt 's proposals to ccntralise ontoinological rcseareh woi'k at Nelson, it has been decided to trausfer the entomological divisiou of thc Plant Burcau to Noiso.'i. Air J. JYragget'idge, B.Sc., nssoeiatediiector of the Eutomological Division, htts arrived. The Eutomological Division will be elosely as-sociated with the Cawthrou Institute. Dr. D. Miller, of the institute Staff, has been appointed director of the division. Arrangements I are now being made for the trausfer j of the remaiuder of the members of Mr Muggeridge's staff to Nelson and for their working accominodation at the Cawthron Institute. Mr Muggeridge, Government entomologist, has been in chargo Of the whitebntterfly parasitic control work which has been so suceeasful in Hawke's Bay and other parts of New Zealand. Dr. H. O, Askea> agricultural chemist Of the Oawthron Institute staff, has left on a visit to Australia for the purpose of getting in touch with research investigati.ons dealing with mineral deficiencies and soil problems. He will spend a few days at Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne, where he will meet prominent ecientists engaged in similar activities to those conducted in the agricultural department of the Cawthron Institute. Dr. Askew _ will then be located at the Waite institute. Adelaide, for five weeks.
