OTANE, Last Nigjht. On Saturday night the football queen carnival held a dance in the 6upper room of the hall. JM.btwithstanding the unfavourable weather, there was a very lair attendance and a most enjoyable time was spent. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr McDougall, and Mrs Meta provided the music • for the dances. Competitions were won by Mrs Spargo snr. and Mr C. Loughnau. Earlier in the week two dclightful parties wero held for the same causo at the residences of Mesdames MacDougail and Ii. Britten respectively, when bridge, mah ]ong and "5U9" were played, the large number present on each occasion spending a particularly happy time, each hostess being indefatigable in her eflorts to ensuro a pleasant evening for her guests. Tbe roonis were bright with vases of japonica and spring flowers and glowing fires added to the general comfort , and cheerfulnoss. Daiuty suppers wero served and tbe hostesses Were thanked for their eft'orts to further the iuterests of ihe football club's queen.
